About The ACtHPR Monitor

The ACtHPR Monitor is a forum for news, comment and debate on the African Court on Human and Peoples’ Rights. At The ACtHPR Monitor we publish articles, interviews and updates on the African Court’s work and provide basic information about how cases can brought before the Court. The Monitor is entirely independent of the African Court, governments or NGOs.

The ACtHPR Monitor is founded by Oliver Windridge, a British lawyer specializing in international criminal and human rights law. In June 2014 Oliver was appointed to the African Court’s List of Counsel (pro bono), and currently serves as counsel on cases pending before the African Court and African Commission on Human and Peoples’ Rights. He has advised numerous individuals and NGOs on bringing applications before the African Court and more widely within the African human rights system. Oliver also has over seven years experience working at the International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda (ICTR) and International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia (ICTY), and serves on the List of Assistants to Counsel at the International Criminal Court (ICC) and List of Legal Consultants at the Extraordinary Chambers in the Courts of Cambodia (ECCC). Oliver regularly writes and lectures on the African human rights system, international human rights law and international criminal law.

Dr. Misha Plagis is the Associate Editor of The ACtHPR Monitor, and a Researcher at the T.M.C. Asser Institute. Misha has previously worked with a number of NGOs around the world before pursuing her doctorate at the Freie Universität Berlin, as part of the Human Rights Under Pressure interdisciplinary graduate school. She holds an LL.M. and LL.B. from Maastricht University, and received her doctorate in 2018.
